To blogger Drea Chong, Fiji’s renowned bula spirit, or the island mentality celebrating “no worries,” is alive and well. Having recently spent a multi-day trip to Namale Resort and Spa, she shares her experiences with the travel community on instagram and via her blog.
Spending time relaxing at the spa, enjoying a soak in an ocean view jacuzzi tub, swimming in waterfalls, and hanging out in her private villa are just a few of the ways Drea experienced our luxury all inclusive resort.
“What I especially enjoyed during our stay at Namale was their once-a-week intimate communal dinners we got to experience on our second night,” Drea explains.
“Over the course of the dinner, we befriended an Australian and an Indian couple on their couples getaway, watched a traditional Meke performance performed by the local villagers, got invited to join in on a group dance, and indulged in a buffet-style dinner featuring local produce. If I had to explain what the Bula Spirit is all about, the image of that night’s dinner would sum it up.”
Take a visual journey with Drea as she explores the spa, dines next to a rainforest waterfall, takes in the incredible views on our sunset cocktail cruise, and more.
Of the many things to do in Fiji, the remote waterfall trek and sunset cocktail cruise are among our guests’ favorites. Drea swims above in one freshwater pools of one of two hidden waterfalls tucked into the rainforest across the island. In Fiji, the land is owned by the neighboring village, and visitors must seek permission from village elders in order to access – which creates a unique and authentic cultural experience in addition to the thrill of exploring a protected, untouched natural landscape.
Departing from Savusavu Bay, just a short 10 minute drive from Namale, our weekly sunset harbor cruise whisks guests out to sea for incredible sunsets and views of the island from the sea. Serving up craft cocktails and beverages with gourmet hors d’oeuvres, guests settle in for a breezy, romantic ride and perfect ending to a day in paradise.
Namale’s Veidomoni Deck, aka “Lover’s Deck,” is the perfect perch overlooking the Koro Sea. Nestled into the sea cliffs, Drea enjoys the ultra-romantic heart-shaped hot tub on the lower level deck with a refreshing snack and beverage delivered to her.
We loved having Drea join us in paradise and, as they say in Fiji, vinaka (thank you!) for sharing the experience.
